Get ready to jump into a whole other world of photography, ’cause you are going to start taking pictures you can’t see with your eyes. That’s right, only your camera is capable of capturing this magic.

You can only do so much with ambient light. Don’t get me wrong, available light has its place in the world of photography, and you can take some really awesome pictures with what is laid out in front of you, but it’s limited. As a photographer, it’s your job to uniquely and creatively capture the moment, yet if your bag of tricks ends with whatever light may be in the room at the time of capture your options and abilities are limited. This is where off-camera flash lighting steps in. Simply put, lighting gives you options, options you didn’t have before with just available light. Take control of the shooting situation by controlling the light, creating the environment you want to make an amazing photograph. Manipulate and command the light on and around your subjects to create an infinite number of compositions and styles. Take a dark environment and make it appear like day. Take a bright scene and give it the appearance of night. By taking a flash and a light stand you can forge one-of-a-kind photos that will dazzle your clients and have them running back for more.

This workshop is all about off-camera creative lighting. You will learn the ins & outs of lighting used by today’s photography professionals. You’ll be schooled in light properties and light modification, and how to configure lights to adaptively capture the pictures you want at photography shoots. This course is extremely hands-on. You’ll be shooting alongside Matty, using his lighting equipment and guidance, and going through various on-location shooting scenarios. The best way to learn and retain information is by doing, and that is exactly what you’ll experience in this workshop.

Execute professionally, by doing all of your work at the moment of capture with proper lighting, DOF, exposure, and composition. Start using post productions tools like Photoshop, Aperture, and Lightroom to enhance your pictures with small edits, instead of depending on these applications to save your ass by salvaging photos with tons of work because you used poor planning and technique during capture.

Lose the fear of off-camera lighting and welcome in a whole new level of photography. With creative lighting, you truly have a blank canvas in which to create beautiful works of art using your camera and lights.

This is a full, one-day workshop. Plan on starting at about 9am, with the workshop ending in the late evening. At the end of the day you’ll have the knowledge and working experience with off-camera lighting to immediately integrate it into your skill set with paying clients.
